How to Treat and Prevent Bacne

Most of us are familiar with acne breakouts on our face, but acne can also break out on different areas of our body too such as on our backs. Here are some home treatments you can try to prevent bacne from spreading on the upper part of your back.

1) Shower straight after sport

It’s pretty obvious, but its always best to take a shower straight after a workout, which could cause your skin to breakout. Make sure to clean the top of your back as this is also a place where you sweat a lot.

2) Moisturise

We often forget to moisturise the top part of our back as its a hard place to get to. Try using a neutral cream that doesn’t contain perfume, which could lead to further irritation. E45 or nivea are good examples of neutral creams that can give your upper back more moisture.

3) Which conditioner are you using?

Be careful which shampoo and conditioner you use. If you notice an itchy scalp, this could lead to irritations on the skin, leaving your back full of spots if you have long hair. Having said that, remember to rinse out your conditioner thoroughly after washing your hair.

4) Wash your bras frequently

Make sure to alternate and wash your bras frequently. The general rule is after every two wears. If you’re worried about ruining your bra, use a wash-net, which protects your bra during a wash cycle and leave to hang out dry, rather than putting in a tumble dryer.

5) Wash your bedsheets and PJs regularly

It is recommended to wash your bed sheets every 10 days. Pyjamas can be washed every two days max. We move a lot in our sleep and dead skin cells accumulate quickly, making your skin more vulnerable to irritations if your skin is sensitive.
