An interview with Costanza De Cecco and Giulia Giannini from the Roman jewellery brand Co.Ro. Jewels – the house behind Sylvie Grateau’s signature looks
When Emily in Paris returns to screens, it doesn’t just bring drama, baguettes and bold decisions—it brings fashion. Big fashion. But behind every beret and bold accessory is a carefully crafted process. From emerging designers to legacy houses, brands don’t just appear on your screen by chance—they’re chosen with intention. This season, Roman jewellery brand Co.Ro found itself front and centre on the ever-chic Sylvie Grateau, giving viewers a masterclass in wearable elegance. So how do costume designers make these picks? And how does fashion get on Emily in Paris?
Thurzdays: Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who plays Sylvie Grateau, was instrumental in bringing Co.Ro. Jewels to the series. Can you tell us how she first discovered the brand and how that led to the collaboration with costume designer Marilyn Fitoussi?
Co.Ro. Jewels: While working on Emily in Paris, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu personally fell in love with a piece from the Rome-based brand Co.Ro. Jewels, in particular the Gasometro bracelet, one of the maison’s iconic designs. Her interest was not only professional. She chose to wear it in her private life, simply because she was drawn to the jewellery’s design and aesthetic.
Philippine’s choice to wear Co.Ro. did not go unnoticed. The actress introduced Co.Ro. Jewels to the costume designer Marilyn Fitoussi while they were developing Sylvie’s wardrobe for the Rome-set season. Known for her narrative approach to character styling, Fitoussi incorporated Co.Ro. jewellery into Sylvie Grateau’s looks, especially in the scenes filmed in Rome. The collaboration with the designers was key to ensuring the pieces harmonised with both the city and the character’s powerful, elegant style.

Thurzdays: The show is renowned for its expressive, fearless fashion. How involved were you in shaping how Co.Ro. Jewels’ pieces were styled on-screen? Did you collaborate directly with Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu or the costume department?
Co.Ro. Jewels: On Emily in Paris, the styling of jewellery is deeply guided by costume designer Marilyn Fitoussi, who crafts each look to reflect the personalities and narratives of the show’s characters. For Co.Ro. Jewels, she carefully selected pieces and integrated them into the wardrobes of the female characters, ensuring that each item complemented their style and reinforced their story arcs. The process is a collaboration between the costume department and the actors, but Marilyn ultimately shapes how the jewellery appears on-screen. She makes sure it enhances both the character and the bold, expressive aesthetic the series is known for.

Thurzdays: Were any of the jewellery pieces designed specifically for the series, or were existing collections selected to align with Sylvie’s signature style and bossy character?
Co.Ro. Jewels: None of the jewellery was created exclusively for the series. Instead, costume designer Marilyn Fitoussi carefully selected pieces from existing collections that reflect Sylvie’s character—a strong, powerful woman. The jewellery chosen has clean, defined lines, sophisticated elegance and a bold design that makes an impact while remaining refined—just like Sylvie herself.
Thurzdays: Co.Ro. Jewels is known for translating architecture into jewellery (architecture-à-porter). How did Rome itself, now a key character in Season 5, influence the pieces featured on Emily in Paris?
Co.Ro. Jewels: Many of our creations are born from the Eternal City. Yet they tell its story from new perspectives—iconic landmarks and hidden corners, famous architecture and unseen details, shapes that everyone thinks they know, awakened and interpreted from another point of view. One of the aspects we love most about our work is uncovering hidden architecture and sharing the stories that lie within it.
The earrings inspired by the Pantheon’s dome transform classical perfection into a contemporary line. Those dedicated to the MAXXI Museum capture the energy of modern, fluid, and visionary architecture. And then there are the pieces that evoke less-travelled places, glimpses that only those who truly live in Rome can recognise: little secrets turned into form, material, and story. Our intention is the same as the one Sylvie evokes when she appears on screen: to spark curiosity, to fascinate, to make people want to discover more. It’s not just the jewellery that is worn – it’s the story, the place, the memory of a lived moment, a fragment of the Eternal City that continues to reinvent itself.

Thurzdays: Co.Ro. Jewels was born from friendship—a story that began two decades ago in Rome when you first met. In many ways, that origin story echoes the deeper themes of connection and loyalty explored in Emily in Paris. How did it feel to see your designs woven into a storyline so grounded in place and connection?
Co.Ro. Jewels: There are many aspects of Emily in Paris that resonate with our own story, starting with the strong friendship at its core. Especially the bond between Emily and Mindy reflects how Co.Ro. Jewels was born from a deep, long-lasting friendship. We also strongly relate to the theme of female entrepreneurship and mutual respect between women, which is central both to Emily’s journey and to our brand. Above all, we are incredibly proud to see our jewellery worn by such strong, elegant characters, women we truly admire and feel connected to.
Thurzdays: Since the season aired, have you noticed an increased interest in the brand from customers, stylists or the wider industry? Are there any pieces that have become unexpected favourites?
Co.Ro. Jewels: Absolutely yes. We’ve been receiving a great deal of attention from an international audience. We’re very happy to see how widely followed Emily in Paris is and how much of a reference point it has become within the fashion world. We are proud to be part of the style that has developed around these characters, women with strong personalities and a distinctive, standout aesthetic. In particular, the Gasometro bracelet and the Pagoda ring have received a lot of attention. These are iconic pieces for us as they represent our approach to translating architecture into wearable objects, into jewellery. We are thrilled to have had this opportunity to reach a wider audience and to introduce our brand to people in other countries.
How to interpret Sylvie’s looks on Emily in Paris
Thurzdays: Finally—what’s next for Co.Ro. Jewels? Will we be seeing more screen moments, or perhaps new designs inspired by this collaboration?
Co.Ro. Jewels: We have many exciting projects in mind for 2026, new collaborations, the desire to expand into new countries and cities, and to explore new horizons. Thanks to Emily in Paris, we’ve realised the significant opportunities that the screen offers, and it has inspired us even more to pursue creative collaborations.
